Young Leader Award

The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of nine and 13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. The Young Leader Award has been designed for use in a variety of different delivery settings, including primary and secondary schools, uniformed organisations and sports and community groups.

  • Age - 9 to 13 years

 

Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership (SL)

The Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead small groups in simple sport and recreational activities whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.
The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.

  • Age - 14+

 

Level 1 Award In Dance Leadership (DL)

The Level 1 Award in Dance Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead small groups in simple dance activities whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.

The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of dance. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.

  • Age - 14+

 

Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership (CSL)

The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities.
The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.

  • Age - 16+

 

Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership (HSL)

The Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to lead un-supervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership.

The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification, with the only entrance requirement being that candidates should have successfully completed the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership; however there are no final examinations to sit.

Essentially Dance Leadership Course - in partnership with Essentially Dance

The Essentially Dance Leadership course has been devised by Sports Leaders UK and Essentially Dance Limited. The aim is to provide a comprehensive course that can be taught by qualified teaching personnel that will enhance the delivery of the Level 1 Award in Dance Leadership, and the Essentially Dance programme within their organisation. Candidates must be 14 years old or over when they register onto the Essentially Dance Leadership course. For further information, download the Essentially Dance Leadership Course leaflet.

 

Indoor Rowing Leaders Award - in partnership with Concept2 Rowing

The Indoor Rowing Leaders Award is designed to equip young leaders with the skills they need to deliver exciting and worthwhile indoor rowing activities to younger children, their peers, and adults. Designed for everyone over the age of 14. Candidates learn how to lead a variety of games and activities using the Concept2 indoor rowing machine along with safe technique, and an understanding of the ICT capabilities of the indoor rowing machine.
